Lord I Am Coming!

Lord I am coming!

Psalm 27:8 says "My heart has heard you say, 'Come talk with me.' And my heart responds, 'Lord, I am coming.'"

What if God was literally asking us to come and talk? When we get used to God being around all the time, it's easy to think, "Just a minute Lord, let me wrap this up first and then I'll be free." This reminds me of a story of a couple of guys who tell Jesus they want to follow him... but they tell him they need to handle some other things first (Luke 9:57-62).

Many times when my kids ask to play with me, I'm doing dishes, picking up laundry, or handling something work-related. I often reply, "Sure kids I'll play but let me wrap this up first." I imagine I sound just like those two guys who backburnered Jesus. Before I know it, the day gets away and the moment is gone. Perhaps the chores got done but I missed a key connection moment.

My challenge for us today is to let the other things wait. Go connect with the Lord and with the people who matter most to you. If you're at work, you should probably wait until your break or until your shift is over. The next chance you get, tell the Lord "My heart has heard you say, 'Come talk with me.' And my heart responds, 'Lord I am coming.'"

Oh yeah and I sure hope your answer to church this Sunday is: "LORD I AM COMING!"

See you soon!
