Celebrating 14 Years of Ministry
On Sunday September 10th, City Church celebrated 14 years of faithful ministry to Jesus in Downtown Anaheim. Around here, we believe that our future as a church is always more important than our history. At the same time, there are milestones worth praising God for. For that reason, we try to throw a big party for our church's birthday bash every year.
We still feel like we are just getting started and that this ministry has a very bright future. Here are some vision-centric items that we shared during our birthday bash.
We dedicated and commissioned three new pastors! City Church's board has been working with Josh Johnson, Austin Dyche, and Lisa Bonenberger to appoint and anoint them into pastoral ministry. Board President Dr. Willie Nolte led them through a process of confirming the personal testimony, theological beliefs, and call to ministry of each individual. The decision to anoint them to pastoral ministry was unanimous. Here are there new titles:
- Lisa Bonenberger - Pastor of Children's, Small Groups, and Women's Ministries
- Josh Johnson - Executive Pastor
- Austin Dyche - Assistant Pastor of Worship and Online Ministries
We started a new teaching series on the life and leadership of King David. If you missed the first week, catch up here.
We also highlighted our growing City Kids' ministry! Along with our talented hand motion choir, a 5-year old and a 14-year old helped lead worship! Praise God for raising a new generation of believers.
The bottom line is that God is up to something right now. Join me in praying Acts 2:47 over our church that says:
"And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
As long as our faces are on Jesus, the sky is the limit and City Church's future is very bright!
