JESUS. BUILDS. HIS. CHURCH.
Jesus. Builds. His. Church.
This past Sunday, I shared some very encouraging statistics that show a significant societal return to God. Just in the last 4 years:
- 66% of US adults now say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ - a 12% increase
- GenZ men in particular showed a 22% jump in interest in Jesus, Millennial men 18%
- The largest increases are from people outside the church: both those who do not attend church at all or have distanced themselves from their Christian identity
- A Harvard study found that women who attended religious services 1x/week were 33% less likely to die prematurely than those who never attended.
The shift is so profound that secular media is being forced to report on it. In an article from a self-professed ex person of faith titled "America Wants a God," Lauren Jackson said the following:
"People who practice a religion tend to be happier than those who don't, a study by the Pew Research Center found. They are also healthier. They are significantly less likely to be depressed or to die prematurely from suicide, alcoholism, cancer, cardiovascular illness or other causes, multiple studies from Harvard found."
To those of us in the church, we already knew this. Yet to see it happening in our culture is very encouraging. It gets better... we at City Church are seeing it as well.
We are still buzzing that we had 18 baptisms this last Sunday at City Church! There are so many good pictures from the day. Take a look at them here and feel free to download them for personal use if you would like!
See you Sunday!
