The “It” Factor 🎯
Is "it" in you...?
Like the smell and taste of a freshly baked-chocolate chip cookie, some people naturally draw others in and you can't get enough of them. And... we probably all know some folks who are more like cough syrup - "good in doses." Some people just have an "it factor" about them that is sometimes hard to define but easily perceived/felt.
Our staff is currently going through a book titled "Lead Like It Matters." The author tries to give words to what "It" is that sets individuals and churches apart. He provided the example of some guys at his college who knew of him, had been praying for him, and who celebrated his newfound faith in Christ. This warm and loving group of men had something he instantly felt. Here's how the author described it:
"These people were different. Passionate, godly, sincere, authentic, transparent, hungry for Christ. They had something different. They had it. And it was instantly recognizable. It was too obvious to miss." - Craig Groeschel
What a phenomenal description of the type of person Jesus wants us to be. My guess is: that's the person we all desire to be. Truth be told, none of us hits that mark perfectly. We all have moments when our actions repel others. Only Christ's character perfectly fits this mold. Yet I pray today that we are mindful of the transforming work of God's Holy Spirit. The Spirit wants to shape us into Christians who others want to be around.
So go be a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie for Jesus today!
