In 2014, City Church was permanently entrusted with the legacy of our beautiful campus in Downtown Anaheim. This blessing from the hand of the Lord has been the gift that keeps on giving. We absolutely love our campus. It has become home. Over the years, God has also blessed us with the ability to dramatically improve the campus in palatable bites on a 100% cash basis. Because of the radical generosity of the people in this church, today we have a highly compelling worship environment, inviting kids’ spaces, HVAC that works and works well throughout the campus (this was a huge issue campus-wide at first), roofs that actually keep water out of the buildings (novel concept right?), and much more. None of this stuff is cheap! Now it’s time to tackle a massive project that will bless our community for generations to come.

City Church’s leadership board just signed off on a (nearly) $100k bid to re-pave City Church’s parking lot and we need your help to raise the funds to pay for it.

I highly doubt anyone will be surprised to hear our parking lot needs to be replaced. If anything, you’re probably thinking “What took you so long?!?” Well, what took us so long was the price tag. Having said that, we feel we can’t delay on this any longer and we need to take immediate action. The plan is to start this project in mid-June (3-4 weeks away). Here are three reasons we’re moving on this so quickly.

1. The damage in our current parking lot is severe and is increasingly becoming a safety concern.
2. Repairing the potholes (rather than fully replacing the whole lot) would still be extremely costly and would be temporary at best. Why pay a bunch of money to fix something that will crack again in a very short period of time?
3. The price of asphalt is rising dramatically. It has risen almost 25% in 2022 alone. The fact is, every month we wait the cost increases. The projection is that these prices will continue to rise exponentially in the coming months and years ahead. So each day we wait to fix it is costing City Church money in the long run.

REMINDER: We worship on this campus today because of the faith, sacrifice, and generosity of “silent saints” we will never know.

Men and women of God we will only meet in Heaven had the foresight to buy this campus in Downtown Anaheim, to develop it, and years ago, to add a parking lot. Without their vision/sacrifice, we wouldn’t have a church here today. Now it’s our turn to be the “silent saints” of the present with the faith, vision, and sacrifice to ensure that there continues to be a vibrant Christian congregation in the heart of this community. 

We are asking everyone who calls City Church home to prayerfully consider making a financial gift towards towards our “Pave the way forward” campaign.

Get it? Paving the parking lot & paving the future…? Okay yes it may be a little cheesy but I had to find some way to connect the dots. The slogan was the best I could think of! Seriously though… if this is your church, go to God in prayer and ask Him what you’re supposed to do about it. By the way, whenever I use the phrase “above and beyond,” I’m talking about a financial gift that is more than our normal tithes to the church. If we take away their tithe money to give to special projects, it doesn’t help us advance this project. So we’re really asking for a special financial sacrifice on top of whatever each person normally gives.

Here are three ways you can contribute towards this project.

1. Make a 1-time gift online. You can give right here or on the Church Center App. Just be sure to select “Facilities Project Fund” so we can adequately allocate those funds.
2. Make a giving pledge to complete by the end of 2022. Some of you might want to give a larger amount but you feel you can’t do it all at once. We have a solution for that! We can help you set up a pledge with a recurring gift (set to expire at the end of 2022) to meet your goal. Simply fill out this online pledge form here and we can help you get set up. You can also just reply to this email indicating how much you would like to pledge. For example: if you gave $143/month for June-December, it would come out to just over $1,000 as a special offering for the year. We can help you set up the recurring giving gift online or you can easily do it yourself.
3. Give via check. Simply write a check to City Church and write “Facilities Project Fund” in the memo line. You can physically bring it to our campus anytime. Otherwise you can mail it to us at: PO BOX 587, Anaheim CA 92815.

I leave you with Paul’s words from 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8: “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

Let’s all sow bountifully into this project and watch God provide every thing (and more) that we need to abound in every good work.
