Dear City Church friends and family,
Things can change very quickly in the COVID-19 age can’t they? If you read my previous post, I enthusiastically shared that City Church had started an outdoor, in-person, live taping of City Church’s weekly message. I also talked about how we were working towards a July 12th “watch party” re-opening concept for the church. I’m writing to let you know that we’re going to pull back all in-person plans (again) and return to online-only services until further notice.
Some of you might be wondering: what’s changed? In the last two weeks, we have seen exponential growth in terms of virus case counts and hospitalizations in our county. That much is not news to most of you. New information has arisen that the 92805 zip code (where City Church is located) is currently one of the worst-affected areas in Orange County and is considered an active “hot spot” with dangerous levels of community transmission.
I (Pastor Kyle) was just on a Zoom call with local government leaders, school officials, county leaders, and faith leaders in our area. The guidance was clear: it is unwise for any church to hold any in-person gatherings. This saddens my heart to write; but for the good of our community, City Church is going to stay online. We will continue to look for the clouds to part and keep you apprised.
Thank you for “hanging in there” with us. We care deeply for all of you.
