Hey City Church Friends and Family.
As you may have already heard, City Church’s beloved olive tree has suffered a partial collapse due to disease, insect infestation, and general decay from old age. After receiving multiple opinions from tree experts, we feel that it is safest and best for our community to remove it. We have scheduled the removal for Friday August 7th. The tree means so much to all of us who call City Church home. Saying goodbye is always tough.
We would like to invite you to come to the church sometime between Saturday August 1st and Thursday August 6th to take a picture with yourself and your family under (what’s left of) the tree. Please do not come prior as we have roof workers in the courtyard for the next few days.
We want to challenge all of you to post a picture of yourself and/or your family on social media. Tag City Church in the post and use the hashtag #UnderTheTree so we can share memories together.
Please bear with us as we re-imagine our courtyard space. The entire architectural beauty of the church is literally designed around that tree so it will feel “bare” for some time until we can dream up, finance, and build a better future.
May the memories of our “Psalm 1” tree live on in your hearts forever.
