Take Hold of LIFE

Is it possible to be thankful for the things that hurt us the most? Or to be thankful for the things that we do not have? But more than that, can happiness exist even we don't have the things we want in life?

These were the topics of the message given Pastor Kyle Bonenberger for City Church on Sunday, November 29th - concluding the Thanksgiving weekend.

Kyle suggested that even those people who have the least in life have much to be thankful for. "God promises us food and clothing, and that's it," he said. But that only is true of this life here on Earth.

Kyle explained that God promises us peace, joy, love and righteousness in his Kingdom. To achieve these things, our pastor explained that God wants us to do good things for others while being content with having the basics -- frivolous and materialistic things should not be idolized. A new car and millions of dollars is not where happiness lies.

In a simple statement of truth, Kyle brought the message home: "If you place your happiness in temporary things, your happiness will be temporary." While we may not be rich with an abundance of material wealth, God wants us to be thankful for the truth that there is an eternal happiness awaiting us. We must place our joy in the things that last.

Kyle concluded, " Place happiness in eternal things - peace, joy love, patience and kindness."

"Take hold of that which is truly life." - 1 Timothy 6:19
