There are over 6 billion people in the world according to the U.S.
Census Bureau. This number grows exponentially every day. In the face
of this growing population, a group of people rise, focused on bringing
change and the love of God to all who need it.
This past Sunday, the contemporary-styled City Church had its
second meeting in its new Anaheim venue, Chain Reaction. During the
service, Lead Pastor Kyle Steven Bonenberger gave his message --- one
centered on the idea of loving people. Among watchful eyes of new
faces, and knowing nods of those in regular attendance, Kyle explained
that the world is watching how we love people inside the church and
also outside it, in our world.
Kyle told our church that the world pays attention to both the
good and the bad of Christians. In the good, people watch as we love
each other with no strings attached, but in the bad, the world watches
when we, as Christians, drop the ball and disappoint. Kyle says that
the "real purpose of loving people is growth." He cites Proverb 27:17,
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
So the Pastor, encompassed by the soft yellow lights from the
stage, challenges his audience to not be daunted by the 6 billion
people in the world because the good news is that it only takes one
person to change a community. With hands raised, motioning to his
surroundings, Pastor Kyle Steven says, "walk out of your door, you have a
ministry."
