On Sunday, August 1st, Pastor Kyle introduced a new message to City Church members called: Refresh “Is it in You?” This message focused in on the idea of personal and spiritual refreshment, particularly when we feel worn out and need a pick-me-up from the things that are happening in our lives.
Our pastor focused in one Psalm 107 from the Bible to illustrate more clearly this aforementioned idea.“Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men,for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
“We will be thirsty and empty without God,” our speaker stated. He explained further saying that we can refresh in God and quench the dry deserts that we create in our lives. Basically, we can satisfy this "thirst" by putting our faith and love in God.
In order to be refreshed by God though, Kyle asserts the need for us to show our obedience to God. If we realize that we need God, he will respond.Pastor Kyle emphasized that we can be “refreshed” if we look to God and give thanks to Him.“God wants to lead you into a place of stillness,” Kyle says.
Furthermore, Pastor Kyle reminds us that there are a few things that we should realize while getting our refreshment from God. First, we need to understand that “one size does not fit all”—people can find different ways to refresh. Second, Kyle says we need to “plug God into every part of our day.” Lastly, find the “holy moments” with God during our day.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus offers one simple promise, “Come to me and I will give you rest.”
