Acts of Worship

I think for a lot of people, the first thing that comes to mind when we hear the word “worship” is music: singing, playing an instrument, something in a Sunday morning church setting.

But is that all worship is about?

The way I see it, our lives each and everyday can be an act of worship.

Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Worship is about taking the focus off of ourselves and praising God for who He is and what He means to us.  It can absolutely be through music, but it can also be through prayer or service or our interactions with others.  Anything that we do can be done in such a way as to bring glory to God.  Our words and our actions should draw us, and others, closer to Him.

So while singing together on Sunday mornings is a powerful act of worship, it is about more than that.  We should live our lives in such a way that God is praised through us daily.  So sing in His name, serve in His name, and love others in His name.
